CONDITIONS: HEEL SPURS
Heel Spurs are thin spikes of calcification that are normally found on the heel bone of individuals suffering from plantar fasciitis. It is important to note that heel spurs are a direct result of the inflammation, and they are not the cause of the pain people with heel spurs experience. This is attributed to the underlying cause that prompted the growth of the heel spur.

Plantar Fasciitis is the inflammation of the thick band of tissue that runs along the arch of your feet from your heel to your toes. It is the most common cause of heel and arch pain. If you are experiencing severe pain in your arch or heel, especially in the morning, you may have Plantar Fasciitis. Other symptoms may include pain and stiffness when walking after sitting for awhile or pain in your heel or arch at the end of the day as well. These symptoms could also be warning signs for arthritis, infection or possibly some serious diseases, which is why it is imperative if you are having heel or arch pain to contact Foot Care of Northeast Arkansas and schedule an appointment today.

Normally, surgery is never needed to treat Plantar Fasciitis. Our goal is to relieve your pain by alleviating your inflammation and finding the underlying cause of your pain. We sometimes use physical therapy, anti-inflammatory medications, arch supports, custom orthotics, or a combination of therapies to treat the inflammation and then evaluate your feet, gait, shoes, exercise methods, and other important information to help us create a treatment plan personalized to you that may include creating custom orthotics.
