CONDITIONS: INGROWN TOENAILS
In addition to being very painful, ingrown toenails can also become infected if not treated early. It is because of this risk of infection that we ensure that we see our patients that suffer from ingrown toenail right away. When you set up your appointment, be sure to inform our scheduling coordinator that you have an ingrown toenail and she will get you the earliest possible appointment.

Treatment

To treat ingrown toenails, we normally remove a portion of the nail. In most cases, using a local anesthetic, we either trim the nail corner or in some cases remove the entire nail back to the cuticle. Once the nail is removed, the severe discomfort and pain you were feeling normally go away.

At Foot Care of Northeast Arkansas, we make taking care of your ingrown toenails as painless as possible. We will normally use a local anesthetic to ensure that you do not have any pain or discomfort during the procedure. And if cosmetics are a concern, you need not worry. After the healing process your toe will look normal again as we normally only have to remove a small portion of your nail.
